Muse Wednesday -- Megan Slayer

I want to welcome Megan Slayer to Muse Wednesday.  Megan has taken a slightly different approach to Muse Wednesday today, and shows how her Muse led her in a direction she normally wouldn’t take.  The result is her m/m story, Believe.

Believe in the Muse

Thanks to Moni for having me here today. I got to stop by a few weeks ago as my alter ego, Wendi Zwaduk. I write as Megan Slayer, too. Yes, I have to be different.  I thought I’d talk about my short story, Believe.

I love stories that have a second chance element to them. There’s nothing more exciting to me than seeing two people who have had issues find a way to work things out. Believe is one of those stories. The two main characters have a strong relationship, but even the strong ones have moments of crisis. It’s how they deal with the crisis that’s important.

I deviated from my rule with this book. I tend to write books that start with the characters meeting or know each other and start the relationship. In the case of Believe, they were already in the relationship. This irritated some readers, while others liked the glimpse into the relationship later on. And yes, I’ve toyed with the idea of a prequel.

But the muse told me to start with these two in a black moment. Raylan and Chase have been apart for a while and even if they’re tight, distance can make the heart grow fonder—or make it worry more. Raylan’s totally committed to his man. Chase knows who he loves, but the muse didn’t want them to stay happy. Oh no. She wanted to toss curve balls at them. So…she did.  I’m glad she did, actually. I liked making these two have to work to show their feelings. Plus, I love angsty men. Hee hee.

And I just might get that prequel started after all.

Want to know more about the book? Then keep reading!

Blurb:

Can love surpass distance and time? Only if they both believe.

believelargeRaylan believed himself unworthy of love until he met Chase. Chase brought out Raylan’s natural need to control and the power to force submission. But time and distance make having a relationship hard. Can Raylan prove to Chase they have what it takes for love to last through this Christmas and every other Christmas for the rest of their lives?

Chase found the muse for his songs in Raylan. Each time they touch, kiss, make love, music fills his soul. But working odd gigs to make ends meet while Raylan photographs rock and roll royalty isn’t beneficial to Chase’s creativity. Can he convince Raylan they’re better off together than apart?
Contains hot manlove, a little rope play, a little spanking and a lot of sex under the mistletoe…

And a little more about me:

0WendiWhen she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.
When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best. The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite–on command.
She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Changeling Press, Liquid Silver Books, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.
